I am a Board Certified Family Physician who lives in the panhandle part of Florida. I have never formally studied Zen Buddhism. I am in my early sixties and now have a "Consultative Practice" making myself available to patients lost among the specialists, diagnostic uncertainties, and myriad of medications. I have written solely or co-authored 15 medical books. Most are Protocol Books and Supplements for Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants and Primary Care Residents. My first two books were about child care and published by a division of a major publisher which is now a division of an even larger publisher. I now hold all my own copyrights and self-publish.

My best selling books are the series of Nurse Practitioner Protocols initially co-authored with a Nurse Practitioner. Originally I published the books in an inexpensive softcover edition and a 3-ring binder edition. The latter's malleability of being able to remove or add to the over 180 primary care problems that walk into a clinician's office has proven very attractive. And more popular. The text of the books is virtually the same as primary care management is essentially the same amongst the clinicians.

I am married almost 40 years with two children and a fourth grandchild due soon. I like to garden, grow orchids, read, and rock on the front porch. I wrote the Zen of Watering Your Garden recently. It is a book to contemplate the aphorisms and the photos to break the days tension and refocus the mind. It does not teach Zen, Gardening or Watering.

I am behind schedule in finishing my next book the updating of the primary protocol series but the update in progress is open to anyone while in progress at Sunbelt Medical Publishers. The most significant problems are in their final form. Enjoy Life. Matt Cohen
