Jean A. Oswald attended Carthage College, Kenosha, Wisconsin, on a scholarship and graduated from the University of Wisconsin with a degree in education. Afterward, she worked as an artist, teacher and freelance writer. Jean coauthored Fasting for The Health of It with Dr. Herbert M. Shelton (Franklin Books). Her other works include The Original Natural Hygiene Weight Loss Diet (Keats Publishing) with Herbert M. Shelton and Jo Willard, and a biography entitled: Yours for Health: The Life and Times of Herbert M. Shelton (Franklin Books). Jean adapted the biography into a screenplay on his life story. Jean served for five years on the National Health Association Board of Directors (formerly the American Natural Hygiene Society).
