Peter J. Holliday’s academic training is as an historian of classical art and archaeology. He received his BA from Columbia University and MA and PhD from Yale University, and has been awarded post-doctoral support from the American Academy in Rome, Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, J. Paul Getty Trust, and National Endowment for the Humanities. His scholarly work in books and professional journals explores connections among Hellenistic Greek, Etruscan, and Roman artistic practice and traditions. In addition, he has explored the reception, influence, and construction of the classical past by later cultures. In conjunction with his latest book, American Arcadia, Holliday has created a guide to Southern California (an interactive map) for classical art enthusiasts: http://blog.oup.com/2016/03/classical-art-southern-california/
