Sandy Bergstrom Mesmer

I wrote, "How To Turn Your Dog Into a Show-Off" in 2002. It has easy to understand instructions on how to show dogs, with over 200 illustrations. I became a Maxwell award-winning artist in 2009 and my book "Yorkshire Terriers" and "Pomeranians" were published by Animal Planet.

I have bred and shown Silky Terriers since 1981, and our kennel Tessier just completed our 121st champion. We are an AKC Platinum Breeder of Merit.

My new project is to create an 8 volume coloring book series called "Color Me Canine", including all 191 AKC breeds. First to be published will is the Toy Group, which has won a Maxwell, which is an award offered by the Dog Writers Association of America.

In this age of breeder bashing, I want to showcase the glorious diversity of our purpose-bred four legged friends. There will detailed notes on each, including a crowd-sourced "three words" -- three descriptives that detail concisely the unique personality of each breed.

Coloring books are so relaxing, but I find their quality generally to be lacking. After all, wouldn't it be fun to color in a master's work? Just sayin'!
