Colene Copeland

Colene Copeland was born on a dairy farm in Watson, Missouri in 1929. She gained her love for animals at an early age while caring for them on the farm. Writing animal stories came very natural. The baby pigs were always her favorite. After she and her husband Robert were married, they moved to Scio, Oregon and bought an 87 acre farm. It was a hobby farm, but there were hogs. They built a gigantic farrowing barn (a place where sows have their babies). That barn became the setting for all her wonderful 'pig stories'. She is affectionately known in Oregon as the 'Pig Lady'. No one would ever guess she is eighty years of age and the stories continue to find their way into out hearts.
