Scott Bischke lives with his wife and best friend, Katie Gibson, in Montana. The couple has hiked, biked, and canoed in places far and wide. A common thread in all of Scott and Katie’s travels has been their desire to immerse themselves in the peace, solitude, and tranquility of the natural world. The couple seeks out people, places, and activities that reinforce their desire to live a life filled with positive energy. Perhaps more simply, they seek to live a life that reflects their gratitude for being alive each and every day.

And following is a bit of deeper history...
Of particular interest to BAT CAVE (an allegory about disease and immigration) readers: In 2018 , Scott served as the proposal coordinator and editor for a major grant focused on bats and disease. The work of the grant, which includes 24 researchers from 14 institutions around the world, is led by Dr. Raina Plowright, then at Montana State University, now at Cornell University.
Of particular interest to FISH TANK (a climate change allegory) readers: Scott served as Science Writer for the MONTANA CLIMATE ASSESSMENT (2017; see montanaclimate.org) and, subsequently, in the same role for the CLIMATE CHANGE AND HUMAN HEALTH IN MONTANA report in 2020, and the GREATER YELLOWSTONE CLIMATE ASSESSMENT in 2021. Scott served as an appointed member of Montana Governor Steve Bullock's Climate Solutions Council, and as such helped create the MONTANA CLIMATE SOLUTIONS PLAN (2020). He helped develop the city of Bozeman Municipal Climate Action Plan (task force co-chair, 2008) and Bozeman Community Climate Action Plan (task force member, 2011).
Along with these efforts, Scott’s science writing/engineering/professional life has touched broadly on issues of resource management and climate change. He worked as a chemical engineering researcher at three national laboratories, as an environmental engineer for Hewlett-Packard, as the lab director for the Yellowstone Ecological Research Center, and currently as a science writer and facilitator specializing in Greater Yellowstone Area science and technology issues. Among those efforts, Scott served as facilitator for the Interagency Bison Management Plan Partners (federal, tribal, and state entities) for 14 years. Scott has led programs for materials reduction and recycling for major manufacturing facilities, helped draft research plans and science agendas dealing with natural resource constraints and climate change, and completed engineering projects and served on an electronics industry technical advisory board scoped at reducing global warming gases from wafer fabrication processes.
