I really thought I had it all together for retiring. After all, I had been successful in my work, had a terrific relationship, and was happy with my family. I was stunned and shocked to find myself in a dark depression. This depression was the impetus for finding other women and capturing their retirement experiences. I found too often that women were experiencing what I called "the empty desk syndrome." Before retiring, read through these accounts from women who have lived through the difficulties we face when we let go of the world of work and embrace who we are becomimg.
I have recently published a book of poems, "Qucksilver Dreams" and for those of you who enjoy narrative poetry you will relish this book. The somewhat erotic last 7 poems were written in response to a poetry contest where the writer had to take fragments of poetry by Sappho and weave them into new poems. I enjoyed living vicariously through the life I imagined her to have led. Hope you like them too.
I'll be doing some signings when I get back to the states. At present I am wriing a new book and traveling in Europe and the Middle East. I am going to go camel riding in Oman.
