Shelley Weiner is an acclaimed novelist, short-story writer and journalist who has, over the years, established a reputation as an inspirational creative writing tutor and nurturer of new talent. South African-born, she worked as a journalist, PR writer and editor in a publishing house before turning to fiction.
Among her published novels is A Sisters' Tale, The Last Honeymoon, The Joker Arnost, and - most recently - The Audacious Mendacity of Lily Green.
Shelley is a Fellow of the Royal Literary Fund and has lectured on the writing programme at Birkbeck College and Anglia Ruskin University. She has also taught for the Open University, the Taliesin Trust and Durham University Summer School. She is a tutor for the Skyros Writers' Lab, a sought-after mentor on the Gold Dust programme, and an evaluator of manuscripts for The Literary Consultancy. She delivered a workshop at the 2012 Cheltenham Literature Festival, and a Guardian Masterclass on The Art of Fiction. Scores of new fiction writers, several of them now published, have emerged from her "First Novel" workshops in Camden Town, Wales and in her Highgate kitchen.
