Upon graduating from college, Bill made an impulsive decision to renew his dormant interest in gymnastics, and shipped off to Denmark, renown for its excellence in that specialty. He stayed long enough--about four years--so he became near fluent in the language (which was a hard slug!) even as, from many falls and injuries, he had endured enough of gymnastics.

As it happens, he fell In love with a serious blonde, who introduced him to a famous Danish author (Carl Ewald 1856-1908) that, echoing the new interest in nature (understood through a Darwinian lens), wrote children's stories in fable form that intentionally interpreted nature faithfully; Ewald had no patience with children's nature stories that misinformed children at the cost of realism.The stories were a huge success in his time, and Bill decided that with some minor modifications in translation, he could make them as appealing to today's kids as when they first appeared in Denmark.

There are over 50 short stories, and Bill has worked doggedly since retirement to bring them back to the Kid-Lit arena of today in the expectation that they will, once again, bring renewed joy and improved learning to children, parents, middle-grade science teachers, librarians, and homeschoolers.
