Michael B. Barry

Michael B. Barry, an accomplished historian and author, studied at Trinity College, Dublin. He has worked on a wide range of projects both in Ireland and across the globe.

With a strong interest in history and heritage, he is known for his insightful works on Irish history, including 'Victorian Dublin Revealed' and 'An Illustrated History of the Irish Revolution'. He also has a strong focus on Spanish history, with acclaimed titles such as 'Homage to al-Andalus' and 'Hispania, the Romans in Spain and Portugal'. His recent '1588, the Spanish Armada and the 24 Ships Lost on Ireland’s Shores' was celebrated for its ground-breaking new revelations, detailed maps, and rich illustrations.

He co-authored 'The Irish Civil War in Colour', a runaway bestseller that was nominated for Best Irish Published Book of the Year at the 2022 An Post Irish Book Awards. In May 2018, he received an award from the Irish Academy of Engineering 'in recognition of a lifelong contribution to engineering heritage in Ireland'

In August 2025, at the Spanish Ambassador's residence in Dublin he was awarded the Royal Order of Civil Merit from King Felipe VI for the promotion of historical ties between Spain and Ireland.
