Shirley Peddy

Shirley Peddy's book, The Art of Mentoring, reflects a highly successful career as an organizational consultant and leader of a large training organization for a multi-national oil company.

The Art of Mentoring, my second book, is told in story form and it reflects real, down-to-earth strategies for becoming successful. With a Ph.D. in American Literature, I was definitely not a shoo-in. I was hired as a temporary writer of training modules for the corporation's coal affiliate at a small salary. When I took early retirement, I had received a number of promotions and was making about six times my starting salary. How that happened is incorporated in The Art of Mentoring. There is advice on everything from how to start a mentoring relationship to how to ask for a raise. There is advice for both the mentor and the person being mentored. It's an easy-to-read and entertaining story from one who has "been-there; done-that."
