Biography

The author was born in Italy and educated in Italy and New York. Having spent her childhood years in her native country, she knows the Italian culture and language from both sides of the Atlantic. She received a Bachelor's Degree from St. Joseph's College in Brooklyn to teach Biology and Physical Science to middle and high school students and later a Masters' Degree from Stony Brook University extending her teaching licenses to include Earth Science and English. She taught Science in NYC and NYS schools for ten years and Italian to adults on a private basis.

When she took time off to raise a family, her other love, writing, grew. Her essays and articles have been published in THE NEW YORK TIMES, NEWSDAY, THE CHRISTIAN SCIENCE MONITOR, THE EAST HAMPTON STAR, DAN'S PAPERS and numerous magazines. A member of the Women's National Book Association, she has attended many writers' workshops including the Southampton Writers' Conference and HerStory Writer's Group in East Hampton, NY.

In addition, Rose Marie Dunphy ran her own Public Relations firm and prepared financial literature for public companies. She remains active in her community and continues to lector in her Church. She travels to Italy, Hawaii, California and Florida, where she has family and friends. Married and the mother of four, she currently resides in Long Island, New York and Delray Beach, Florida. An excellent public speaker and cook, she conducts many author talks and cooking demonstrations.
