George Weigel

George Weigel is a garden writer and retired Pennsylvania Certified Horticulturist who has written five gardening books, including “Pennsylvania Getting Started Garden Guide” and “Pennsylvania Month-by-Month Gardening.”

He’s been writing garden columns for The Patriot-News and PennLive in Harrisburg, Pa., since 1993, ran his own consulting and design business for home gardeners, and has led dozens of garden trips nationally and internationally.

George is also a retired member of GardenComm (the association of garden communicators), a retired member of the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society’s Gold Medal Plant committee, and in 2016 was a recipient of the National Garden Clubs’ Award of Excellence, the highest achievement award given by the national network of garden clubs.
