I am the author of seven award-winning books: Ripples of Air: Poems of Healing; Haiku and Senryu: A Simple Guide for All; Everything You Need to Know About Nursing Homes: The Family's Comprehensive Guide to Either Working With The Institution Or Finding Care Alternatives; You Can Be A Columnist: Writing & Selling Your Way to Prestige; Beginners' Guide to Writing & Selling Quality Features: A Simple Course in Freelancing for Newspapers/Magazines; and Your Original Personal Ad: The Complete Guide to Expressing Your Unique Sentiments to Find Your Dream Person. I have also authored the acclaimed book, Shadows of Seasons: Selected Haiku and Senryu by Charlotte Digregorio, which is now included in the Appendices of Haiku and Senryu: A Simple Guide for All. In 2018, I was honored by the Governor of Illinois for my achievements as an author, speaker, educator, and exhibitor, advancing the field of literary arts for adults and students alike.

Many of my books have been adopted as supplemental texts at dozens of universities throughout the U.S., Canada, India, Pakistan, and Catalonia. They are sold in forty-six countries, and are displayed in major metropolitan venues, such as cultural centers. These books have been reviewed, recommended, and praised by hundreds of writer-fans, critics, librarians, students, and professors worldwide.

Two of my books have been Featured Selections of Writer's Digest Book Club. I am regularly interviewed by major print, radio, and television organizations throughout the U.S. I sign books at libraries, chain bookstores, and university bookstores. And, my illustrated solo poetry exhibits are featured 365 days a year at libraries, corporate buildings and convention centers, hospitals, park districts, galleries, and many other venues. It is my passion to promote the literary arts. Poetry, for example, is very healing, and in my poetry books, I inspire and teach people to write poetry as a self-help technique. My poetry books have been endorsed by psychotherapists and major poets alike. My individual poems have been displayed at supermarkets, restaurants, apparel and wine shops, banks, botanic gardens, and on public transit. Among many libraries, my poetry has been exhibited at the Chicago Public Library. I have spent my adult life teaching adults and students how to write and get their work of many genres published, and how to publicize and showcase their work in public venues.

I have won sixty-four poetry awards, and was nominated for four Pushcart Prizes. I have been nominated and listed in "The International Authors and Writers Who's Who" in Cambridge, England and in the "Who's Who In Writers, Editors & Poets U.S./Canada," among other directories. I have had more than 700 poems of fourteen forms published in international journals, books, and anthologies. My poetry has been translated into eight languages. I do poetry readings at bookstores, libraries, art centers and galleries.

My background includes positions as a feature editor, news reporter, and columnist at daily newspapers and as a magazine editor. I have been a public relations director for a non-profit organization. I am now self-employed as a communications/public relations/marketing consultant and editor. I am also a poetry columnist for Winnetka Kenilworth Living, a lifestyle magazine.

I am often interviewed by daily newspapers, and on television and radio throughout the country. I hosted my own radio program, "Poetry Beat," on public broadcasting for two years. There have been about 400 articles written about me in the media.

My poetry has been featured on many library web sites, including Shreve Memorial Library in Louisiana and Cornell University's Mann Library.

In other professional areas, I have been on university faculties, teaching French, Italian, and writing.

I regularly give special lectures and workshops on writing, publishing, publicity, and creativity to business and professional groups, and at national writer's conferences, schools, universities, literary festivals, non-profit organizations, and libraries. I have judged many national poetry/non-fiction competitions.

I have served on many Boards of writers and publishers organizations. I was an Ambassador for The Haiku Foundation, and Second Vice President of the Haiku Society of America. Previously, I served for five years as Midwest Regional Coordinator of the HSA. My educational background includes undergraduate and graduate degrees from Pomona College and The University of Chicago, respectively. I recently sat on the Writer's Panel for Career Day at the University of Chicago. Currently, I write papers for journals on haiku and senryu, and translate poetry books into English.
