Alexander Paul

Alexander Paul fell in love with the world of writing at the age of 11 when crossing the Atlantic on an ocean liner in 1959. He read all the adventures of Tarzan during the two week passage and decided to dedicate his life to attempting to entertain readers as successfully as Edgar Rice Burroughs. His first book, SUICIDE WALL, a novel exploring Vietnam Veterans and rumors of their high rate of suicide resulting in more suicides than combat deaths, was published in 1996 and achieved critical recognition from such publications as Napra Review, "In Paul's gutsy novel, Gene, an ex-Marine, has a burning desire to build a white marble memorial wall to those Vietnam Veterans who committed suicide across from the black Vietnam Memorial... A truthful book whose spirit will linger." More importantly, some Vietnam Vets reported reading SUICIDE WALL was a cathartic experience which left them determined not to take their lives. The book led to numerous radio and TV interviews in which audience questions regarding the actual number of suicides led to Paul creating an internet website, suicidewall.com, a registration site to preserve the memories of Vietnam Vets who took their own lives. Over the passage of time the site has been expanded to acknowledge the veterans of all our conflicts.

His wife's breast cancer experience seven years later resulted in a second book entitled, THEY'RE MINE AND I'M KEEPING THEM, published for Kindle in 2010 and also available in paperback, about Laura Ross-Paul's amazing journey to become the first woman in the United States to receive cryoablation to cure her cancer and save her breast from a mastectomy. Paul is the narrator, weaving the story along the spine of Laura's story as seen through her journal which she has maintained for most of her 30 year career as a successful Northwest painter. Also revealed is the life of Dr. Peter Littrup of Karmanos Breast Cancer Center, Detroit, Michigan, who has struggled for years to make this revolutionary treatment he invented universally available to women in America; a treatment now commonplace in China! The book is a compelling story of spiritual belief leading to triumph over adversity, the revelation of a medical treatment suppressed by the medical industry and a source book for those hoping to secure cryoablation and treat their breast cancer while avoiding a mastectomy.

Soon to be released in early 2011 is, "ARKEN FREETH AND THE ADVENTURE OF THE NEANDERTHALS - BOOK ONE. Look for ARKEN FREETH AND THE ADVENTURE OF THE NEANDERTHALS - BOOK TWO, the next installment in a series detailing Arken's life, due out in late 2011.
