Ray Hoover

Ray Hoover was born in Goshen, IN on Decemeber 30, 1956. He graduated from NorthWood High School in Nappanee, IN. In 1983 he graduated from Purdue University's School of Veterinary Medicine with a DVM degree. After practicing veterinary medicine for 10 years, Ray and his family started a home business of raising produce and greenhouse plants.

Ray married Elsie Kulp on October 1st, 1978. Ray and Elsie have six children and five grandchildren. On July 24th, 2010 Elsie passed away after a one year battle with recurrent breast cancer.

In 1990 Ray and Elsie published their first cookbook, The Basics and More Cookook. The Basics and More was revised in 2004. Since publication began in 1990, over 100.000 copies have been sold.

The Practical Produce Cookbook was published in 1997 and Grandma's Recipes in 2003. In 2012 Simply Seven: Over 1900 Recipes with Seven Ingredients or Less was added. All four of these cookbooks are practical and easy to use with basic ingredients most people have in their kitchens.

In 2015, Ray married Jeanie Herschberger. The story about their marriage is currently being edited for publication by Christian Light publishers.
