James V. Lee was born December 10, 1926 to Rita Belle Greenlee and Judson Warren (Dud) Lee in the O. K. Community near O’Donnell in the Texas Panhandle. Besides O. K., he grew up in various locales in West Texas, New Mexico, and Arizona. When his mother remarried, he was finally able to call home a small farm west of Ackerly, Texas.
James was graduated from Abilene Christian College in 1949 with a Bachelor’s degree in English and earned his Master’s degree in education from Southwest Texas State University. James married the former Hazel Juanita Lee (yes, same last name, but no kin) in 1949. They have two married children, Kerry and Gail.
Starting with his service in the U. S. Navy, James has led a varied and interesting life as a successful salesman and educator. As a civilian teaching aboard U. S. Navy ships for five years, he traveled extensively in forty countries and “more islands than I can remember.” His interests include traveling, writing, physical fitness, and gardening. James and Nita make their home in beautiful Central Texas.
