Dr. William Yoder has a doctorate in philosophy, and has studied Eastern and Western philosophy and religion for over forty years. His doctoral dissertation on comparative mysticism was hailed by Dr. Huston Smith: "thoroughly rewarding, instructive, and original, and it advances the philosophical treatment of mysticism." Dr. Yoder taught university philosophy courses for ten years at the University of Buffalo, Vassar College and Furman University.
He left the academic world to pursue a career in holistic healing. He and his wife earned their doctorates in chiropractic, and have practiced in their upstate New York clinic for over twenty years.
Throughout this time, he continued his active exploration of philosophy and spirituality. He studied with the Option Institute, and with such teachers as Ram Dass, Thich Nhat Hanh, Michael Harner, Gail Straub, David Gershon and Wallace Black Elk.
He has also been a student of A Course in Miracles for over twenty years. During the past five years he has taught a class on the Course. These classes have been recorded and the CD’s are available.
Over the past twenty years, he and his wife have given presentations and taught workshops in both the private and the corporate sectors on the topics of health and healing, human potential, self-actualization and spirituality.
Dr. Yoder has also written Lighted Clearings for the Soul (2004). His next book, Lighted Clearings of Possibility (provisional title) is due out in the spring of 2011.
