My wife, Maurine Shimlock, and I founded Secret Sea Visions in 1989. She is co-author of both our books. The truth of the matter is that she is THE writer in the family; we both photograph. Our award winning photography primarily focuses on marine life and travel destinations. Additionally we lecture and Maurine writes for numerous science and nature publications world-wide. Travel is a large part of our business and we lead underwater safaris to the world's best dive destinations. Pioneering new diving destinations is one of many passions so a large part of our lives is spent underwater. Our business suit is neoprene. We have each made over 7000 dives and yes, we swim with sharks whenever possible.

Working as consultants for Conservation International (CI), we recently published "Diving Indonesia's Raja Ampat". This photo-guidebook introduces readers to the planet's most bio-diverse marine habitat, the reef systems off the west coast of Papua, Indonesia's half of the island of New Guinea. Actually Raja Ampat, which means Four Kings in the Indonesia language, is only the tip of the iceberg. Our continuing work concentrates on exploration of the lesser known regions that comprise The Bird's Head Seascape. An expanded revised edition of this book will be available in late 2011.
