Mary Thomas Acton

Mary Thomas Acton was born in a small rural Indiana town in 1932 to parents who raised their two daughters to value hard work and above all, honesty in their every-day lives. The Great Depression of the early 1930's greatly influenced the little family, resulting in a tightly-knit community of grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins. Close family ties are reflected in Mary's work and are the direct link to her first book, Shadows On The Snow - a fictionalized account of her family's connection to the Underground Railroad and the Civil War. Married and the mother of three children, she didn't begin writing in earnest until she semi-retired from the medical field in 1984. Success with her first book led her to continue the story with the next three novels (Heritage of Honor, To Hear the Nightbird Sing, and This Forever Land) which were subsequently published. Her fifth novel, Sins In A Quiet Town, is a departure from her previous works and is a murder mystery.

Widowed in 2004, Mary lives close to her children and continues to write. She is an avid golfer who also loves to fish - two venues that will in all probability appear in her work some day.
