M. E. DePalma

M.E. DePalma is an honors graduate of the University of Kansas where she was awarded the masters fellowship to pursue an MS in Industrial & Organizational Psychology. She has written seminars and training programs for corporations, articles for trade journals and gardening articles for The Sun-Sentinel and ·Birds & Blooms· Magazine. She is an avid gardener specializing in butterfly gardening and has co-authored the book, "A Garden Diary a Guide to Gardening in South Florida". 

In March of 2007, her garden, which has been recognized as both a National and a Florida Backyard Wildlife Habitat, was awarded the "Emerald Award" - Broward County's highest environmental award.

Ms. DePalma has worked as a model, industrial consultant and private investigator. She was the first web master for the Florida Federation of Garden Clubs, a reader for the Library of Congress, an ·Entre Nous· supporter of the Fort Lauderdale Film Festival, a member of the Attorney General's Senior vs.Crime project and a member of the NatureScape Broward Board which worked to make Broward County the first county in the USA to be declared a Certified Wildlife Habitat by creating habitats every half mile within its borders.

Ms.DePalma taught classes at the local library for several years,working to get the city of Wilton Manors recognized as as a Certified Wildlife Habitat. In 2006, the city became 17th city in the USA to achieve that distinction.

In February of 2010, Wilton Manors honored her by naming a park after her.

M.E. DEPALMA PARK is a public garden containing native and other plants that attract birds and butterflies. The park, located at the corner of NE 7th Avenue and NE 20th Drive in Wilton Manors, Florida, is one of the more than 200 properties in Wilton Manors which are registered with the National Wildlife Federation as Wildlife Habitats.
