I'm the author of thirteen books of fiction, three of non-fiction, and six collections of poetry. My novel "The Bannonbridge Musicians" was runner-up in 1978 for Canada's top book award, the Governor General's Award. In 2009, following publication of my novel "In Another Life", I received the Lieutenant-Governor's Award for High Achievement in English-language Literary Arts. Five of my books are listed in Atlantic Canada's 100 Greatest Books. In 2012 I was appointed to the Order of New Brunswick for my contributions to literature and culture. In 2016 I received an honorary Doctor of Letters degree from St Thomas University.
My latest books are the revised definitive edition of my novel RUM RIVER (2016), and a new novel SEASONS OF DISCONTENT (297 pp, Lion's Head Press, 2015). In 2014 the revised definitive editions of my books THE BANNONBRIDGE MUSICIANS, THE BLACK HORSE TAVERN, and THE STRUGGLE OUTSIDE were released. These and a number of my other books are available at Amazon.com and the various Amazon outlets around the world, as well as through bookstores from Ingram Book Services.
