Carol Faenzi

Carol Faenzi is the granddaughter of Italian immigrants who came to America from Tuscany in the early years of the 20th century. While taking a sabbatical from a busy corporate career in New York City, Carol bought a one way ticket to Tuscany and started writing down the ancestral stories. Her ancestor was a marble carver from Carrara and worked on many important buildings in America, carved from Indiana limestone. The Stonecutter's Aria is based on her family's immigration story, their joys and heartaches - like so many other immigrant tales - a universal story of remembrance. The book has served as a vehicle that transformed Carol's life. She did not return to the corporate world, encouraged by the bravery of her ancestors. She leads annual small group tours to Tuscany, including an excursion to the Carrara marble quarries. She also presents talks and workshops based on preserving family stories. Her book has received an award for Best Historical Fiction by the Independent Book Publishers and by Foreword INDIES Book of the Year.
