Retired newspaper editor Lee Jordan has seen a lot of history and loves to write about his state’s glori-ous past. He has written three books on the people and past of his Alaska hometown, Chugiak-Eagle River—the place he likes to call the “Center of the Universe.” Another love is baseball, a sport to which he was introduced by his 10-year-old son in 1962 and which led to a 22-year stint as coach. He now is president of the booster club for the Chugiak-Eagle River Chinooks college-level baseball team in the Alaska Baseball League. During two months each summer he can be found basking at Lee Jordan Field in Chugiak, rooting for his favorite team.
