Mary E. Dilworth

Mary E. Dilworth is a nationally recognized education researcher, policy analyst, and program developer. Her work is primarily centered on teacher quality and preparation with a keen focus on racial/ethnic and linguistic diversity and equity issues. In addition to her book, Millennial Teachers of Color, she has written, edited, and contributed to scores of scholarly books, articles, policy and research reports, and essays, including Diversity in Teacher Education: New Expectations; Being Responsible to Cultural Differences: How Teachers Learn; and Teachers’ Totter: A Report on Teacher Certification Issues. She has led a host of policy, research, and program initiatives as vice president of the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards and as senior vice president of the American Association of Colleges for Teacher Education. She has also served as a visiting professor and director of the Center for Urban Education at the University of the District of Columbia. Currently, she is an advisor to non-profit organizations and educational institutions. She holds a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree from Howard University and a doctorate from the Catholic University of America.
