Dexter Westrum

Dexter Westrum regularly teaches The Intellectual History of Western Heritage I and II and American Literary Traditions at Carthage College. He also offers courses in Classical Ideas in Sports, Serious Literature West of the Missouri, Fiction Writing, and Sport in Literature.

Earlier in his career he was Director of Liberal Studies and Sybil Martin Distinguished Professor at Ottawa University in Kansas. He holds a B.A. from Sioux Falls College and an M. A. and Ph.D. from the University of Minnesota. He has more than 80 refereed publications of short fiction, memoir, and literary criticism. His books are Thomas McGuane, a critical study, and Elegy for a Golf Pro, a false memoir, and Death and the Golf Pro by Jack Clayton, P.G.A., a golf noir.
