An accomplished nature photographer, Richard Mack has won numerous awards for his work, including the International Photography Awards Best Nature Book Silver Medal in 2005 for his first book, The Lewis & Clark Trail: American Landscapes. His second book, Great Smoky Mountains National Park: Thirty Years of American Landscapes, was released in July 2009 and is sure to garner many book, design and photography awards as well. Both of these books make great gifts. He also leads workshops for those interested in learning about nature photography while exploring different areas of the world.
His workshops offer an insight into his view of the world and how he captures it on film, or digital these days. His energetic personality and graciousness come forth in each workshop and help to give each attendee a better understanding of how to see the world differently and how to capture that world for themselves.
In addition, Richard is a renowned commercial photographer whose work for numerous Fortune 500 companies has taken him across the country and around the globe. He specializes in location photography for advertising and corporate communications. His assignments have ranged from steel mills to the space shuttle launch and from agricultural products to high end hotels and resorts.
He is based in Evanston, Illinois.
