Darcel Turner is an author, community leader, and life coach based in Brooklyn, NY.
Darc Oasis is an anthology of short stories, poetry, and insights built upon Turner’s own black, maternal truth. The work provides a necessary reference, calling for the creation of safe spaces and serves as an abstract guide for moving through dimensions and deep emotional challenges. In turn, a reader of these texts will begin to honor themselves with gentleness and fervency.
As an artist, Darcel’s creative pulse is infinite, with her hand in dance projects, poetry books, Reiki healing work, and more. In the 90s, she began performing in many NYC poetry clubs. As a working writer, Darcel has lent her skills for the National Black Writers’ Conference and Essence Magazine. Darc Oasis is her third body of work over a 20 year span, shifting our gaze towards her gifts and affirms her presence as a storyteller and leader.
Today, Darcel deepens her connections to black and brown spaces as an advocate for “Inner Light” healing methods and teachings. As a community leader and dot-connector, her therapeutic Intuitive Counseling and missionary work for survivors of domestic violence are the foundation of her doctrine.
“Darc Oasis” is Darcel’s first book of the year, serving as a continuation of her poetry book, “Lathered Layers.” Read Darcel’s short musings of reverie, self-love and introspection here. www.darcel.life
