Kim Hohman was born in Johnstown, Pennsylvania. In 1992, at the age of 19, she married her high school sweetheart and together they began a 21-year worldwide journey, courtesy of her husband's career with the US Army. They have made homes in 16 dwellings in 6 states, 2 countries, and 1 US territory. They have raised two sons and are the proud in-laws of a daughter-in-law.
In 2019, Kim discovered, through a DNA test, that the father who raised her was not her biological father. Through this discovery, she also discovered that the African-American identity she'd long held firm (despite believing that her parents were white and black/white biracial) was indeed who she was. The father who raised her is white; her biological father is black. Through ancestry research and a close geographical connection to her biological family (she was raised in the same neighborhood as her biological paternal grandparents, an uncle, aunt, and cousins), she was able to learn the truth of her identity and begin to establish relationships with biological family members she'd never known.
In addition to writing, Kim has worked as a digital and social media consultant and is a certified aromatherapist and coach with an active practice working with women who choose to prioritize their self care.
