Daniel K. Tennant

Daniel K. Tennant was born in Ann Arbor, Michigan in 1953. He attended Syracuse University earning a BFA in Painting and an MS in art education. Tennant taught high school art and photography for 32 years and stopped teaching in 2008 so he could paint full time.

He has been represented by Gallery Henoch, Bernarducci-Meisel Gallery (where he had two one man shows in 2000 and 2003) and Hammer Galleries- all in New York City.

He works in gouache which is opaque watercolor. Many have considered him to be one of the best gouache painters in the world.

His work has appeared in many magazine articles and ten books as well as calendars, limited edition prints and jigsaw puzzles. He has exhibited in some of the finest museums in the country and has garnered many national awards for his complex pantings. In 2004 he was commissioned by Radio Shack, Inc. to do an extremely large still life of some of their products for their new corporate headquarters in Ft. Worth, Texas. His work graced the cover of The Artist's Magazine in March 2003.

Mr. Tennant has been in demand too as an art judge and has judged some of the most prestigious art shows in the East.

The artist now lives in New Woodstock, New York with is wife, Karen, and is the father of four grown children.

When he is not reading or taking photographs or birding he can be found creating his next gouache painting.

The latest edition of his book on realistic painting is now in a new format and the first edition sold 35,000 copies.
