He then started an aviation magazine which became very popular in British Columbia and then became a Canadian national publication. after 20 years of publishing AVIATOR magazine, he sold the publishing company and started to write books. His first book, "Flights of a Coast Dog", was not only a best seller but won a BC book award. His second and third books were also best sellers, and he went on to publish "Finding Nimmo," the story of the advent of heli-fishing at Nimmo Bay Resort. He then wrote a book for Pacific Coastal Airlines titled,"Journey Log" on the history of that regional air carrier in B.C. and its founder, Daryl Smith. His work in progress is now in print and up on iBooks. Titled "Fling Wing' the new title in softcover is the history of rotary wing aircraft in B.C. where the commercial use of helicopters was actually invented from the innovations of Carl Agar and Okanagan Helicopters. This book also draws adventures from Peter Barratt's logbook. Peter flew for Okanagan and then created his own helicopter operation, West Coast Helicopters, and has been on the "collective" for 45 years.

Schofield is presently writing his first novel based on the true account of a friend's wartime adventures with a French Resistance cell during the Second World War.
