Deborah Navas

Deborah Navas is a published author, editor, and artist who first began writing short stories in time stolen from her full-time career—raising three children and job as a magazine editor. Her stories were published in literary magazines, and two won PEN Syndicated fiction awards that were recorded for NPR’s “The Sound of Writing.” SMU Press published her story collection, Things We Lost, Gave Away, Bought High, and Sold Low. Her fascination with a little-known historical event, a story of illicit love and murder in Revolutionary Massachusetts, turned into a lengthy research project and two books. The first as nonfiction history, Murdered by His Wife (U. Mass Press), and a novel: Bathsheba Spooner, (an eBook). She is everlastingly grateful to the MacDowell Colony for the gift of uninterrupted time that made her books possible.
