Born & raised in Greensboro, Billy Ingram lived in Los Angeles from 1978-1994. He has lived and worked in Downtown Greensboro since 1997.
From 1985-1994, Billy Ingram was a designer on some of the most successful Academy Award campaigns, film trailers, and movie posters of all time, for stars like Harrison Ford, Barbra Streisand, Tom Cruise, Steven Spielberg and many others. This includes posters and trailers for the James Bond, Star Trek, Lethal Weapon, Beverly Hills Cop and Rocky franchises as well as Moonstruck, Pretty Woman, The Fugitive, and he did the illustration on the poster for Hunt For Red October. A key member of the team the advertising world dubbed, “The New York Yankees of Motion Picture Advertising.”
Ingram launched TVparty! in 1994 and it quickly became one of the internet’s hottest spots for entertainment and information, attracting millions of users a month. TVparty! was the first to broadcast clips of TV shows online. Produced the first websites for KZL, Rock 92 and Two Guys Named Chris morning show.
Written while living in London in 2002, Ingram released the best-selling book TVparty: Television’s Untold Tales to rave reviews from around the world.
From 2003-2006 he wrote and starred in a series for VH1, Super Secret TV Formulas, and two series on Bravo along with The Christmas Special Christmas Special.
In 2012, Billy Ingram produced, art directed, conducted and transcribed dozens of interviews to craft the storyline for Beyond Our Wildest Dreams, an oral history of The Rat Pack Golddiggers in the 1970s.
He also produced the Eisner Award nominated book Dear John: The Alex Toth Book and authored a memoir in 2013, Punk, about his time in the early-1980s covering the Punk / Underground music scene in Los Angeles.
In 2015 he starred in the motion picture Lake Of Fire and played a supporting role in Rap & Rhyme in 2018.
Wrote and produced the book Hamburger² in 2016, a light-hearted look at Greensboro history.
In 2017 he produced a four episode local music TV series The Nathan Stringer Summer Music Show, now on YouTube.
Billy Ingram authored EYE on GSO in 2022, a collection of stories from O.Henry magazine and other publications.
Feature writer and monthly columnist for O.Henry magazine since 2015. He has also written for Yes! Weekly, Business North Carolina and Triad City Beat.
