Kevin Vandever once boldly stated, "Anything that can be solved with software, I can solve using subfiles and RPG!" He was wrong, of course, as most computer operating systems don't use RPG or subfiles. Still, he sticks to his statement while his coworkers smile to his face and roll their eyes when he's out of the room. Kevin has, however, throughout his programming career, solved many business challenges using subfiles and RPG, and it was those adventures that formed the inspiration for his first two books, Subfiles in RPG IV and Subfiles in Free-Form RPG.
Kevin has since traded in the compiler for the meeting room and although he no longer codes business solutions himself, he does manage development teams and keeps himself current on today's software development technology. However, his leadership role brings with it new challenges. Challenges that cannot be solved with subfiles and RPG...nor with any programming language for that matter. Challenges that require an awareness of the current and changing times as well as an understanding of technology and the human spirit. An enlightenment to the future of information technology. And he's writing about it.
