Susan Smith Daniels is the 2017 Winner of the Fairfield University Book Prize. The Genuine Stories, published by New Rivers Press in November of 2018, was named a top pick of 2018 by the Cedar Rapids Gazette, and a 2020 Finalist for the San Diego Book Award.
The author is a 2012 graduate of Fairfield University's MFA Program and earned her PhD in Creative Writing in 2020 from Bath Spa University in the UK. She currently teaches graduate students in Creative Writing.
Born and raised in Philadelphia, she moved to Iowa with her family in 1981. She currently splits her time between Iowa and California.
The Genuine Stories is Daniels' first work of fiction. She is also the author of The Horse Show Mom's Survival Guide, published by The Lyons Press in 2005.
