Melissa Walsh

Melissa Walsh (1967― ) was born in Detroit, Michigan, the oldest child of an Irish-American autoworker and Irish-American/French-Canadian homemaker. The first among her extended family to attend a four-year college, Walsh pursued International Studies and Theoretical Linguistics at Hope College and Wayne State University, respectively. Her academic background in the liberal arts led her into the publishing industry early in her career, where her reverence for the written word was further enriched. Later, Walsh's Motor City heritage inspired her to join the automotive industry. Here, she presented real moxie for car culture, even undertaking training to become a mechanic. Walsh's knack for communication and proficiency in wrenching later landed her in the defense industry, where she served as a vehicle logistics specialist until the launch of her business, Powerplay Communications, in 2010.

When Walsh is not in her office building content, she is likely at the ice rink enjoying her sons' hockey games or playing some shinny herself.
