Michael Roden studies and writes about spirituality with an eye toward its inner meaning. Perhaps this comes from having worked as a psychotherapist for years as well. He tends to see the rich symbolism in the Bible as a way of describing and accessing internal realities. The experience behind it, how it affects us, is what is important. It can change a person, and in doing so, can change that person's outlook on life. Spirituality is meant to make us happy, ultimately.
Michael Roden is the author of the following books of Theology:
A Church Not Made with Hands: Christianity as Spiritual Experience (Hampton Roads, 2005)
and Jesus and Ourselves: An Alternative Understanding of Christianity (1996).
He has written the following books of poetry:
Love is the Reason (2013)
Paradise Re-Envisioned (2011)
Songs of the Morning: Meditations on Healing and Self-Knowledge (1997).
