Dr. Ted Vickey is a leading expert in fitness, wellness, and technology. He has been called "the most connected man in the fitness industry". Vickey spent 11 years as the Executive Director of the White House Athletic Center, the fitness center serving the staff of the Executive Office of the President under the Clinton and Bush administrations.
He is the Founder & President of FitWell, Inc., a fitness management consulting company specializing in operations, consumer-facing health technologies, leadership, and professional development. Vickey served as the Executive Director of the White House Athletic Center for eleven years during the Bush, Clinton, and Bush Administrations.
Dr. Vickey has a Ph.D. from Galway University (Ireland) in Engineering and Informatics where his research topics included social networks, mobile technology, and physical activity. His Masters's degree is in International Business and Entrepreneurship for the University of Limerick, his undergraduate degree is in Exercise and Sports Science from Penn State.
In addition to his FitWell duties, he is a Professor of fitness entrepreneurship and disruptive health technologies at Point Loma Nazarene University, Tulane, and the University of San Francisco. He is the Senior Advisor for Fitness Technology for the American Council on Exercise (ACE) and sits on their Scientific Advisory Board. He is also an emeritus member of the Board of Directors for the American Council on Exercise, the Corporate Wellness Advisor for GetHealth, Board Member for the Fitness Industry Technology Council. and a Ph.D. researcher on social networking, mobile technology and physical activity at the National University of Ireland, Galway.
Vickey is a keynote speaker, delivering messages about fitness and technology to crowds of thousands. He's consulted with companies across the globe, including the White House, Department of Commerce, Securities and Exchange Commission, Fruit of the Loom, Sylvania, Allied Irish Bank, and more.
He is the author of four books (with more on the way), academic papers, and thousands of tweets. He currently resides in Southern California.
