Wayne E. Warner is one of nine children born to Harry and Ethel Warner in the small company-owned lumber town of Wendling, Oregon. His father was a logger and mill worker, and before her marriage, his mother taught in one-room schools. After serving in the U.S. Army, Wayne prepared for the ministry, pastoring for six years. While pastoring in Illinois (1964-68) he edited a weekly newspaper and then became the book editor for the religious publisher, Gospel Publishing House, Springfield, Missouri. It was during this time that he began writing and compiling Christian books, including "Good Morning, Lord: Devotions for Servicemen"; "Touched by the Fire"; "Maria Woodworth-Etter, For Such a Time as This"; "Smith Wigglesworth, The Anointing of His Spirit"; and "Kathryn Kuhlman, The Woman Behind the Miracles". He has written hundreds of articles for religious and history publications. He served 25 years as director of the Flower Pentecostal Heritage Center (Assemblies of God) and is the founding editor of the "Assemblies of God Heritage."
