David L. Smith

David Lorne Smith was born in the Baptist parsonage of Mouth of Keswick, New Brunswick (on Canada's east coast)in 1943. Christian ministry is the family business: his grandfather, father, brother, two uncles, and a son have all served as pastors. David has worked as a newspaper reporter, swimming pool manager, elementary and high school teacher, pastor, professor, and academic administrator. He is an inveterate and eclectic reader (he says: "My wife and I have a great arrangement--while she shops, I read!"). He is a graduate of Concordia University in Montreal (B.A. in History) and the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky (M.Div., Ph.D. in New Testament Theology). He has written numerous articles and book reviews for academic and denominational journals, and has published four academic books. The Smiths relax by vacationing and cruising (when money allows).
