Paul Trevillion

PAUL TREVILLION is a globally acclaimed London born sports artist (b.1934), author and innovator whose career spans over 70 years, working with the likes of - Gary Player, Lee Trevino, Sugar Ray Robinson, Oscar De La Hoya, Paul Gascoigne, Gary Lineker, George Best, Pele and so the list goes on. His innovations, from inventing Split hand Putting ' The Pencil Grip', The Beaver' - bringing sock tags, pre-match warm up routines and 'Marching on Together' to Leeds United in 1972...have been achieved alongside his acclaimed artistic works.

Trevillion's natural gift in taking ‘pen and ink’ to its limitations and beyond, has been best described by author and highly respected art historian Susie Hodge MA FRSA, "Paul adds washes of vibrant colour. Nothing is laboured or overworked.....not a static photographic rendition, but a free fluid image that not only captures movements, form and mannerisms, but spirit and power....Paul Trevillion is the Pele of Sporting Art.

In 1955 the greatest honour was to come when Trevillion was summoned to meet Sir Winston Churchill who signed Trevillion’s portrait, recognised as the ONLY signed original portrait of Sir Winston Churchill in the world.

Trevillion’s dynamic art has featured in almost every UK National newspaper since 1957 when his Hey Ref!’ feature appeared in the Sunday People. It became ‘YOU ARE THE REF’ and was a regular feature in Shoot’ Magazine and then in recent years in the Sunday Observer.

In the early 1960's Trevillion brought Roy of the Rovers to life.

Trevillion is the artist and author of over 20 books that have sold worldwide, including his You Are The Ref series of books and the Peter Alliss instructional book, ‘Easier Golf’ which was reprinted 10 times in a 20 year period. The world famous ‘Gary Player Golf Class’ which appeared in over 1,500 newspapers worldwide became the largest syndicated sports feature in the world.

Major art exhibitions at Strand Gallery, London; National Football Museum , FIFA Museum (Zurich), Zibo Museum Beijing China,

and Commissions from the Football Association, PFA, NFL, MBA, Nascar, MLB (Baseball) and corporate commissions in the UK and USA with the likes, of Umbro, Adidas, Budweiser.

In 2017 Trevillion worked with PELE in the "Play Like Pele" European Snickers campaign, creating original artwork of Pele in action.
