Hello. Thank you for your interest in my published works. I first began writing as a profession when I wrote my first book during a two week Christmas break in 1996.

I was born in Montague County, Texas. I was raised on my maternal great-great-grandfather's cattle ranch in northern Montague County adjacent to the Red River. As an angry and rebellious fourteen year old teenager, I walked 225 miles in 8 days during the hot August days, with no food and little water, to reach my eldest brother's country home in the east Texas countryside. There, I worked in his country grocery store and attended the local high school my final three years.

Upon high school graduation, I volunteered for the Marine Corps during a time when few Americans volunteered for military service. Subsequently, I volunteered to serve in Vietnam. I served 8 years in the United States Marine Corps. As they say, I received an offer I could not refuse, so I left the Marines to embark on an interesting career as a Department of Defense (DoD) and Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) contractor. I worked for the DoD and CIA in various technical and management contract positions in many countries on five continents for 45 years, before retiring. I have but one regret: the Marines offered to send me to helicopter pilot training after being in the Marines only six weeks. I declined the offer at the time because the proffered training meant I had to agree to change my enlistment from 3 years to 6 years. Having suffered through the rigors of the intense Marine training for six weeks, I was not about to sign up for an additional three years. To this day, I regret I did not accept the offer.

Regarding my education, I received a Bachelor of Science Electrical Engineering degree from the University of Texas at Dallas. I pursued an MBA at the University of Iowa and a software engineering degree from Carnegie Mellon University.

After leaving the Marines, I worked in a number of countries whose only common denominator was conflict and war. On November 4, 1979, as the Iranians overran the American embassy, I escaped from a firing squad south of Tehran. I was working on a classified combined CIA/DoD program called Project Ibex. I tried to reach the embassy that fateful day, but due to the pressing crowd, my driver could not ferry me to the site. I hid out in a foreign embassy for a few days before escaping the country as a member of the flight crew of a sympathetic nation. This was but one of many adventures throughout my long association with the DoD and CIA. My professional career was full of surprises, technically challenging, fulfilling, and I enjoyed it very much. I retired after working my final four years at the Naval Air Warfare Center (NAVAIR). I am thankful I could spend a career helping America's warfighters be the best in the world.

I now live on a small country place in the beautiful Ouachita Mountains of southeastern Oklahoma with my calico cat Patches and my two Rhode Island Red hens, Little Bit and Riggin. I have published 19 books with about five more in varying stages of completion.

I enjoy the outdoors, cooking (and eating), and traveling. I have lived and worked on five continents and have visited more than 60 countries. I am very approachable and enjoy meeting new friends from all over the world. Please feel welcome to contact me via my FB page, or my email, michael_busby@yahoo.com.

My most recent completed project was The Comprehensive Donnock Dennis Genealogy. Containing over 3,000 pages, 14,000 individuals history, documented with over 12,000 sources. the voluminous work documents the genealogy of the Eastern Shore Planter known as Donnock (Donnagh, Donnack, etc.) Dennis. My current project is a love story based upon real events spanning the Vietnam War. I am calling it Saawariya. It is an epic story of love found and love lost. It is written with the background the Vietnam War, spanning five continents, and several decades.

Thank you, again, for your interest in my writing and God bless you and this great nation.
