Daniel R. Vertrees

Daniel Vertrees, Ed.D., is a former musician, band director, dean of education, assistant professor, knifemaker, and blacksmith. An avid archer, Vertrees participated in the National Senior Olympics in the sport. Also, a lifelong shooter, he belonged to the Cowboy Action Shooting community, using both black powder and smokeless powder arms. Using a touring kayak he built, Vertrees paddled the Adirondack and Algonquin Parks. Experience in solo camping, hunting with bow and pistol contributed to form his love of the wilderness.

Vertrees makes his home on the central Oregon coast.
