I'm busy writing a book about the Springboks, my second book on South African rugby. The first, Touch, Pause, Engage! Exploring the heart of South African Rugby was published last year by Jonathan Ball Publishers. Both books are a sort of ethnography of South African rugby: I try to tell what is happening in my country in different communities through one of our most popular and passionately supported sports.

My first book, Khabzela, told the story of a very popular DJ who died of Aids after refusing to take life-saving medication. I looked at his life to understand why: basically, he summed up South AFrica's anti-apartheid struggle and post-liberation experiences.

I have also co-edited, with Sarah Nuttall, two collections of first person essays on contemporary South AFrica. They are called At Risk and Load-shedding.
