I have had a life-long interest in Napoleonic military history, with an emphasis on working with primary sources that provide the most reliable information possible about the period. With respect to Napoleonic military uniforms, this interest led to the publication of my books about the Otto Ms. and the prints of French soldiers published by Aaron Martinet. With respect to Napoleonic military history more generally, it has led to my books about the foreign troops in Napoleon's armies and about the Battle of Albuera, an event that makes much more sense when all relevant primary sources are closely analysed.
