Stuart Hutchinson

Like the central character in his novel, Stuart Hutchinson was born and brought up in a small coal mining and cotton spinning town in Lancashire, England. Unlike the central character, he went to university and eventually taught literature mainly at the University of Kent at Canterbury (England), but also in universities in the USA, Germany, and Poland. He's written on novelists from George Eliot to Don DeLillo. With his wife he sings, travels, keeps fit, and enjoys the offspring. A poor result for Manchester United (not often) makes him miserable. Like the central character he might have been a pro-footballer. But if, in the words of Emily Dickinson, his life ever stood 'a Loaded Gun', it never exploded. For the central character it did!
