I was born in 1950. I lived for many years in Wales but now live in Shetland with my husband, one daughter, two cats and intermittent visitors, and am retired - I used to teach creative writing at the University of Glamorgan. I have published many collections of poetry and translations, plus a Selected Poems and two novels. I also wrote "The Democratic Genre: fan fiction in a literary context" (Seren 2005), a study of fan fiction in the context of canon-based writing. I translate poems mainly from German but sometimes also from French and Ancient Greek. I read German and Russian at the University of Bristol. My poetry website is at http://sheenagh.wixsite.com/sheenaghpugh and my blog is at http://sheenaghpugh.livejournal.com/
I like writing about the sea, politics, language, odd corners of history and the even odder people to be found in them, and far too much about death. I don't do lerve or optimism; I'm more Eeyore than Pollyanna. I also love languages and am currently learning Norwegian.
