Joanne M Cafiero is an autism and augmentative and alternative communication specialist. Dr. Cafiero has over 30 years experience working with individuals on the Autism Spectrum, as a public school teacher, music teacher, researcher, and University instructor. Dr. Cafiero worked as Autism Projects Coordinator for Johns Hopkins Center for Technology in Education. She is a consulting editor for Focus on Autism and other Developmental Disabilities and Disability and Rehabilitation. Dr. Cafiero was a member of the National Academy of Sciences Committee on Educational Interventions for Children with Autism. She has written position papers and monographs for the Council for Exceptional Children, The American Speech and Hearing Association, Exceptional Parent and Closing the Gap. Dr. Cafiero teaches and provides consultative services in the United States, Europe, Asia and Australia.
