Franci McMahon is the author of five novels, short stories, works in anthologies and creative non-fiction, and is a Hedgebrook alumnae. She is the offspring of ranchers and homesteaders from Alberta and Washington. Franci bred and raised Arabian horses and rode in distance competitions. Her first novel, Staying the Distance, published by Firebrand, allowed her to make the move back to the West of her heart. After twenty five years she moved to a small town near Tucson, Arizona. Bold Strokes Books has given her the opportunity to thoroughly revise both Night Mare and Staying the Distance, republished in e-book in 2016. White Horse in Winter, the sequel to Night Mare, is followed in the series by The Impasse. Her most recent novel, Riding the Storm, published by Desert Palm Press, joins her horse-centric, lesbian mystery/adventures.
