Patrick Adcock

James Patrick Adcock was born in Arkansas and has also lived in Missouri, Louisiana, and Texas. He is a professor emeritus of English. He has tried his hand at virtually every genre. In addition to his novels, he has written three one-act plays, the libretto for an opera in two-acts, short stories, essays, poetry, and humor. He has edited a literary magazine, a research journal, and a children's book. His favorite author is the brilliant British satirist, Evelyn Waugh, whose work has greatly influenced his own. Even in this day of instant communication and the homogenization of America, he remains under the spell of his native South and the rich literary material it continues to provide.
